Northwest Arkansas Education Town Hall

Northwest Arkansas Education Town Hall

We would like to extend an invitation to you to attend and participate in a Town Hall Meeting on Education in Northwest Arkansas on Saturday February 9,  1:00 – 3:00  pm.

SPRINGDALE – A Town Hall Meeting co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters Washington County, Arkansas Citizens First Congress, Arkansas Education Association, Arkansas Advocates for Children, Hispanic Women’s Association, and Arkansas United will take place from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019 at the Jones Center for Families and Children in Springdale, Arkansas.

Many of these groups are working with the Arkansas Opportunity to Learn Campaign, which is a coalition of statewide organizations, community leaders, parents, students, educators, policymakers, and others who are committed to public education in Arkansas and dedicated to ensuring its viability.

Two core values of the campaign are equal access to high-quality educational services, programs, and support; and giving voice to those who have been excluded from discussions about education policy.

Panelists will share the good things that are happening in public schools across Arkansas, as well as the challenges they are facing.

Join us for a legislative update on education issues and hear our panelists share their stories. Our panel includes;  Ms. Megan Goddfrey, Arkansas State  Representative of District 89 in Springdale,  Ms. Elizabeth Lyon-Ballay, former charter school teacher and blogger, Dr. John L Colbert, superintendent of Fayetteville Public Schools and officer in the NAACP NWA,  Ms.Anna Beaulieu, president of Fayetteville Education Association and teacher, and Ms. Arisbeth Johnson of Arkansas United.  Mr. Bill Kopsky, Executive Director of Arkansas Public Policy Panel will be the moderator.  Come learn how you can get involved in your public schools.

A question and answer session will follow the panelist presentations. Information and literature from sponsoring groups will be available.
