NEWS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SPRINGDALE, Ark. (December 12, 2016) – A recent grant awarded by the Walmart Foundation will help The Jones Center in Springdale continue to offer its important programs and services to the Northwest Arkansas region.
The $290,000 grant will provide general operating support for the Center’s Recreation Venues, Youth Programming including After-School Program, Summer Day Camp and Sports Leagues; the Fun Day Sunday Series which offers discounts for families to access the pools and ice arena; affordable meeting space for the region’s organizations and non-profits; and scholarships to allow The Jones Center to be an accessible regional amenity. In addition, the grant will provide important funding for the development of a 5-year strategic plan for The Jones Center campus to meet future recreation, health, education and youth programming needs.
“Whether it’s the recreation venues or the after-school program, youth and families in our area rely on The Jones Center to provide a safe, fun and welcoming environment for learning and development,” said Erin Hogue, Senior Manager at the Walmart Foundation. “We’re proud to support the Center as they work to improve programming and offerings, guest experience and facilities for the future.”
“We are so grateful to the Walmart Foundation for their partnership,” said Kelly Kemp-McLintock, CFRE, Chief Advancement Officer at The Jones Center, “Walmart’s continued investment over the years has enabled the organization to expand its quality programming for youth and families, and to sustain founder Bernice Jones’ vision of an affordable regional center ‘where all are welcome’.”
Added Ed Clifford, President/CEO of the Jones Trust/The Jones Center, “We are grateful to the Walmart Foundation’s long-time support. We are especially appreciative of the Foundation’s underwriting this year towards the strategic planning initiative. We are conducting extensive surveys and interviews to receive important feedback from our members, guests and stakeholders about the Jones Center’s facility and offerings. The results of the survey are important as the Center serves as a main anchor in the downtown Springdale revitalization effort, and as a trail-head for the Razorback Greenway Trails System. The Jones Center has evolved into a very important amenity for the Northwest Arkansas region.”
